Arthritis

If you are younger than 65 and suffer from arthritis, you are not alone. Of the 40 million people in the U.S. who suffer from either rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis, more than 50% are younger than 65.

You are also not alone if you have tried pain killers and anti-inflammatory medications that did not provide the relief you were seeking. At Longevity Acupuncture, we have successfully treated patients who have finally found relief after years of chronic pain in their knees, hips, shoulders, hands and backs.

Studies Prove Acupuncture Works For Arthritis

A study funded by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), both components of the National Institutes of Health, found that acupuncture provided pain relief and improved function for people with osteoarthritis.

The findings of the study – one of the longest and largest randomized, controlled phase III clinical trials of acupuncture ever conducted — were published in the December, 2004 issue of the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.

In another study, 25 percent of arthritis patients who had been scheduled for knee surgery cancelled their operations after acupuncture treatment. In this Scandinavian study researchers also paired, with success, acupuncture with exercise for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the hip.
